Announcements

This weekend, we will be celebrating the sacrament of Communion at all worship services. As we enter the season of Lent, let us pause and take time to wonder and marvel about the immense sacrifice of Jesus’ atoning blood, and His profound love for us all. Let us prepare our hearts. A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. I Corinthians 11:28.

Help our Prayer Shawl Ministry through donation! Let the ladies who knit and crochet put in the hours, and you can help by donating your leftover craft store coupons (place in drop box), money (designate ‘prayer shawl’ on your check or envelope) or skeins of yarn (3 identical skeins of Lion’s Brand Homespun is ideal, but we’ll take whatever you’ve got!). There’s a designated wicker basket near the info center in the Red Brick Building ready to receive your yarn.

Looking for a beautiful Grand Piano for your home? The piano, presently in the Red Brick Building lounge, is for sale for a great price! We would like to offer this opportunity to members of Harderwyk first before advertising the instrument to the West Michigan community. Contact Jane Bosko (405-8163) by March 5th.

Thank You! Harderwyk would like to thank Laura Van Groningen for her 14 years of faithful work cleaning at the Red Brick each Friday. Laura will be here in the church library from 12-1pm on Friday, March 2, if you would like to stop by and wish her well. We are also very pleased to welcome Jayne Bakker (Watershed) who will be replacing Laura in this position.

Join with the churches of Classis Holland for the fifth annual Festival of Churches on Sunday, February 26, at 6:00pm. The service will be held at Evergreen Commons. Together we will celebrate the way God uses the various ethnicities and abilities within our churches to advance his Kingdom in our community. Children of all ages are welcome to be present in the worship experience (no nursery provided). Attendees are welcome to bring an ethnically unique finger-food to serve at a dessert buffet table following the service.

Job Opening: Harderwyk is looking to fill the church administrator positions. The job description is available at www.harderwyk.com. Please send cover letter and resume to the Harderwyk Personnel Committee.

Greeting Card Project: This month we will begin our project of sending greeting cards to Harderwyk’s veterans, missionaries and those confined to their home. If you know someone in one of these groups who would appreciate a card, please provide their name and mailing address to Christine. This 4 week service project will begin on February 29.

Library News: We are missing a few resources.

Support our Short Term Missions “little churches”
One dollar a week is no small change.
· Over the past few years, Harderwyk has sent over 150 different people on short-term mission trips… many of whom have gone on more than one trip.
· An average of 3-4 different trips go out into our world each year.
· Several of our own supported missionaries have been encouraged by these personal visits.
· Each person needs to raise a minimum of $1200 per trip.
· Last year, the “little churches” collected $5,100 to support these trips, that’s no “small change”!
· This year, Harderwyk is sending teams to Africa and Honduras, and hopes to send teams out within our own 50 states. Our goal this year is to hit $10,000 collected through our “little churches”, so please bring your dollar and join us in reaching that goal!

Wednesday, February 22, is the first day of Lent. You are invited to enter this season by joining your church family for our Ash Wednesday Service from 6:30-7:00pm in the Great Room. We pause all of our regular Wednesday night programming to be together – to be marked with a cross of ashes and to remember that we came from dust and we will return to dust. As we say to the children who receive ashes: “God Created You. God Loves You. Your Whole Life Belongs to Him.” Nursery is available for infants.

Help our Prayer Shawl Ministry through donation! Let the ladies (all ladies, at this point!) who knit and crochet put in the hours, and you can help by donating your leftover craft store coupons (place in drop box), money (designate ‘prayer shawl’ on your check or envelope) or skeins of yarn (3 identical skeins of Lion’s Brand Homespun is ideal, but we’ll take whatever you’ve got!). There’s a designated wicker basket near the info center in the Red Brick Building ready to receive your yarn.
